The reconstruction work of the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium commenced under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (22).

The Stadium will comprise of a 400 meter track, 25 meter long swimming pool, indoor stadium and many other sporting facilities.

Construction work will be carried out under the guidance of the Sri Lanka Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau and is expected to be completed by mid 2017.

Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, State Minister Wasantha Aluwihare, Deputy Minister Lakshman Wasantha Perera, Governor of the Central Province – Surangani Ellawala, Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayaka, Mayor Hilmi Mohamad, and others participated in this event.
