The Conference commenced with the opening announcement of President Hollande and it was followed by the speech delivered by the UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon.
More than 130 Heads of States are participating at the Conference and in total over 180 countries are attending this most important global summit on climate change.
It is significant that President Sirisena represents Sri Lanka in his capacity as the Minister of Environment as well as the President of the country.
After the opening ceremony, an official photograph of the leaders was taken. Following that President Hollande hosted a luncheon for the Heads of States and Foreign Ministers.
President Sirisena will be the third speaker in the afternoon session.
In the meanwhile he held a bilateral discussion with president Tomislav Nikolic of Serbia.
In the afternoon the president will attend the launching of international Solar alliance jointly host by President Francoise Hollande of France and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
