    Understand what is good and bad when associating with new technology - President Featured

    Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena said that our children should set an example to the world by using mobile phones and computers productively.

    It is essential to understand what is necessary and unnecessary for us when associating with the new technology, the President said. He made these observations participating at the annual prize giving ceremony of Maliyadeva College Kurunegala ,today (04). Even the Microsoft founder billionaire Bill Gates did not allow his children to use a mobile phone funtil they reached the age of 16, the President said , adding that it is the responsibility of the parents to be vigilant when their children use the new technological equipment. 


    The President pointed out that the lack of knowledge regarding the laws is one of the main reasons for the increase of crimes. President Maithripala Sirisena who arrived at the school was warmly received by the students of the school. The President also presented awards and prizes to students with performance. A painting of the President drawn by student Anuradha Sandamali was presented to the President Sirisena in the event. 

    Education Minister- Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Ministers Dayasiri Jayasekara, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Governor of the North Western Province- Amara Piyaseeli Ratnayake, Chief Minister- Dharmasiri Dassanayake, Principal, School staff, Parents and others participated in the event.
