    Simple ceremony to mark President's first year in Office

    The Good Governance commemoration ceremony will be held on January 8th and 9th in a very simple manner and the public are requested to hoist the national flag on 8th January to mark that political revolution, said the Minister of  Sports Dayasiri Jayasekara.

    He stated this today (31) at a press conference held at the Government Information Department Auditorium.

    Accordingly,  several simple events will be held, including religious ceremonies such as a Bodhi pooja  on January 8 morning at the Kalutara bodhi premises, a Pirith Chanting on the night of Jan.8 at the Presidential Secretariat as well as a cultural show on January 9th evening at the independent square premises.


    Presidential Coordinator Mr.Shiral Lakthilake addressing the media said that the President has instructed not to spend state funds for these ceremonies.  Accordingly, the Cultural show on 9th January also will be held with the cooperation of the Ministries of Cultural affairs and the Parliament Reforms and Mass Media.   Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Police and the National youth Services Council's dancing troupes will perform at the cultural show. 

    Minister Jayasekara said that there is no necessity to hoise black fllags in the country and all  Sri Lankans are requested to hoist the national Flag on 8th January to mark the January 8 political revolution.
