This holiday resort, which has been built by Polonnaruwa Buddhist Association, is equipped with all facilities with room to accommodate 500 people at the same time.
The Polonnaruwa Guest House of the Ministry of Public Administration which was built adjacent to the Maithri Sevena, was also opened by the President today. This is a two-storied building with all facilities for the tourists.
President Sirisena, who declared open the guest house by unveiling the plaque, made an observation tour there.
The President, symbolizing of offering 125 scholarships to awardees of ‘Lakdaru Scholarships’ which is offered for the children of the low income families in Polonnaruwa District, presented the letters of scholarships to ten children.
Water tanks for rural volunteer organizations in the Polonnaruwa District were also offered at this occasion.
The President symbolically presented roofing plates to 100 families in the district who are living in the houses with coconut leaf thatching.
Minister of Public Administration and Management Ranjith Maddumabandara, Chief Minister of North Central Province Peshala Jayarathne, Deputy Minister Lakshman Wasantha Perera, Member of Parliament Nalaka Kolonne and the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration and Management also participated in this occasion.
