Wilson Hegoda was a world renowned photographer. He also was a poet and wrote two poetry books named ‘Ambapali’ and ‘Malaka Suvanda (The Smell of a Flower)’.
He served as the Secretary of the Young Poets Association of the Capital City of Sri Lanka and Art Society of Sri Lanka for a long time. He also paved the way for thousands of young people to study Photography in their native language by opening the National Photographic Art Society.
Wilson Hegoda commemorative stamp and the first day cover were presented to the President in the event.
A photography exhibition, which includes the photos taken by Mr. Wilson Hegoda, was organized at the premises and the President also joined to see the exhibition.
Minister of Muslim Religious Affairs and Posts- M.H.A. Haleem, Post-master General Rohana Abeyratne, Director National Archives at Sri Lanka National Archives- Dr.Saroja Wettasinghe and family members participated in this event.
