    President expresses solidarity with Pakistan against terrorism Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (March 28) condemning Sunday's terror attack in Lahore, Pakistan as a "dreadful act of cowardice" expressed solidarity with government of Pakistan in their "hour of grief".

    In a message of condolences to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif on the terrorist attack in Lahore yesterday (27), which killed more than 70 people including children, President Sirisena said he is saddened by the news and condemn all forms of terrorism targeting innocent civilians.


    "The terror attack in Lahore yesterday is a dreadful act of cowardice. I am saddened by the news and condemn all forms of terrorism targeting innocent civilians."


    The President said it is an "uncompromised" responsibility of South Asian nations to secure the lives of their people.


    "Securing the lives of the people in the region is an uncompromised responsibility of the South Asian nations and Sri Lanka stand in unity with the people and the government of Pakistan in this hour of grief."


    The President expressed condolences to the families and the loved ones of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
