    President instructs SLFP and UPFA not to misuse state property for May Day rally

    President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the leaders of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), and the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) to refrain from misusing state property for the May Day rallies.

    The President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the General Secretary of the UPFA Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and General Secretary of the SLFP Minister Duminda Dissanayake to ensure that state properties are not misused at the UPFA May Day rally in Galle, according to a statement issued by the UPFA.

     

    The UPFA May Day rally will be held on 1st May at the Samanala Grounds in Galle.

     

    The President has instructed that the necessary payments should be made for the buses hired for the provision of transport facilities to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party members attending the rally. According to state media, the President has instructed to abstain from using property of state institutions.

     

    The statement further mentioned that members of the SLFP and UPFA party activists are displaying a keen interest in participating in the May Day rally in Galle.
