This was organized under the theme, ‘Exceeding of Laboratory Tendencies and Transforming of the People’s Literacy into Scientific Basis’, in line with the International Medical Laboratory Day.
Minister Rajitha Senarathne who made a specific contribution to introduce a Degree in Medical Laboratory Science in the country, Prof. Chula Gunasekara and several senior laboratory doctors received honorary awards on this occasion.
President Sirisena addressing the occasion said that the government would pay special attention to uplift the quality standards of the medical laboratory services in the country as well as to develop the facilities in the field of free health service.
A research report titled “Sustainable plan for free health service and its challenges” was presented to the President by Chairman of the Sri Lanka Society for Medical Laboratory Science, Dr Ravi Kumudesh and the official website of the Sri Lanka Society for Medical Laboratory Science was also launched by the President.
