The persons who dedicated themselves to the development of the field of poetry were awarded at the ceremony by the President Sirisena. ‘Mage Kavi Sithuvili’ poetry book, compiled by a student from Ananda College in Colombo was also presented to the President.

Western Provincial Minister, Ranjith Somawansa, the President of the Youth Poets’ Association of Colombo, Boralesgamuwe Pranith Perera, Deputy President, Asiri Wijesekara were also present.

The Youth Poets’ Association of Colombo was established in 1935 and was converted in to a charitable institution in 1985 through a Parliament Act.
