Politicians not fulfilling duties a betrayal of the country – PM Featured

    July 26, 2016

Making this country a better place for the people is a duty of the politicians and it will be a betrayal or a disloyalty to the country if they did not fulfill this duty, said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He said that the different parties have joined with the President Maithripala Sirisena to form the new government with the sole purpose of working together to develop the country.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe was addressing a gathering yesterday  during the United National Party’s promotional campaign in Wattala area.

He said that, during the first year in office of the new government he visited many countries to strengthen the foreign relations while an economic stability is being made within the country. "The President has also discussed with many States to strengthen the bilateral relationships", he added.

Sri Lanka is a small market for investors and it has to be enlarged if more investors need to be attracted. Therefore the Premier pointed out the importance for Sri Lanka to join with the developed world markets such as Europe, China, India, and Singapore. “If we want to generate more and more job opportunities, arrival of the investors to the country is essential. We must provide the infrastructure facilities and a suitable environment for them”, he said.

According to the Premier, a huge development zone has been designed to establish from Kandy to Colombo and Hambantota bringing many job opportunities to the country.

“United National Party is the Sri Lanka’s political party, which always finds solutions for your problems. It is a party, thinks differently”, Wickremesinghe said.
