    Prevention of diseases essential for building a healthy nation – President

    President Maithripala Sirisena says it is essential to further strengthen the medical services to prevent diseases in the task of building a healthy nation.

    He pointed out that the Public Health Inspectors have a main responsibility in this regard, as officials who work closer to the people.

     

    The President was addressing 81th General Assembly of Public Health Inspectors, held today (July 28) in Kadawatha.

     

    “The government allocated a higher amount of funds from the last budget to enhance the quality and standard of the public health service. The government will fulfill every responsibility to provide the benefits and rights of the people, without any hesitation”, the President said.

     

    He recalled that he worked with every trade union in a cordial manner without any clash during his time as the Minister of Health. “I consider it as an important experience in my political life”, he added.

     

    The President presented awards to the retired Public Health Inspectors, in appreciation of their service.

     

    Ministers Rajitha Senarathne, Sarath Amunugama, Director General of Health Services Dr Palitha Mahipala and the President of the Public Health Inspector’s Association Upul Rohana were among those participated in this occasion.
