Meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart at the Lambermont palace in Brussels on Wednesday evening he appreciated the democratic and Good Governance orientation that Sri Lanka has entered and said that a number of Belgium investors were willing to invest in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan Premier Wickremesinghe in his remarks explained PM Michel the economic, social, and political reforms that are taking place in the country under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena. He also informed about the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, the special initiative for reconciliation implemented under the former President Chandrika Bandaranaike.

Belgium Prime Minister also elaborated on the important role that reconciliation plays in strengthening the inter-communal relations and pointed out that the way towards this purpose is very challenging and sensitive one. He also assured his support for Sri Lanka to regain the GSP Plus concession.

A top level Belgium delegation will be visiting Sri Lanka next week to strengthen the bilateral relation between two states.
