    National Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Week declared

    The week commencing 06th February to 12th February has been declared as the “National Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Week” with the aim of creating healthy, happy and energetic Sri Lankan generation.

    In parallel to this event, numerous Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion programs are scheduled to be launched across the country.

     

    A discussion in this regard was held at the Presidential Secretariat, yesterday (10th Jan.) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and during the meeting the President instructed the officials to implement this program with the contribution of all the relevant sectors.  

     

    The President also pointed out the importance of implementing programs to promote the mental well-being of the people as well as the physical fitness.

     

    February 06 has been declared as the State and Corporation officials Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Day. February 07 has been allocated for the Private Sector, February 08 for the Mothers and children, February 09 for Women, February 10 for Adults and differently-abled persons, February 11 for Youth, and February 12 has been declared as Community Participation Day.  


    Ministers Dayasiri Jayasekara, Rajitha Senaratne, W. D. J. Senevirathne, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Chandrani Bandara, and the Secretaries to the Ministries, Heads of the Departments and the public officials participated at this discussion.
