Look into grievances of manpower workers serving in CEB, Speaker tells Minister Pavithra Featured

    July 11, 2014

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa requested Power and Energy Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi to look into the issue of persons recruited by manpower organizations to serve in the Ceylon Electricity Board on non permanent basis while the CEB recruit outsiders.

Speaker Rajapaksa said that some of those recruited by the manpower organizations were working for more than 10 years but they had not been made permanent in their positions and they were not entitled for benefits enjoyed by the CEB workers.

The Speaker made those observations while Minister Wanniarachchi was responding to a question raised by UNP Kurunegala District MP Nalin Bandara.

Minister Wanniarachchi said that the CEB had recruited 543 persons on contract basis during the recent times. There were around 4,000 persons recruited by the manpower agencies to work in the CEB.

The Minister said that she had stopped irregular recruitments to the CEB.(HC)
