    PM addresses Sri Lanka Business Seminar in Japan

    During the next 20 years the population will increase to 250 million in the south Asian countries, therefore it is a responsibility of the Japanese government and the entrepreneurs to target the increasing population and make production plans,  said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

    PM Wickremesinghe made these remarks addressing the Sri Lanka Business Seminar organized by the Japan External Trade Organization in collaboration with the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, The Japan- Sri Lanka Business Cooperation Committee, and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization of Japan. Over 300 key entrepreneurs participated.  

     

    As quite rightly shown by Shunsuke Takei, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the base of world trade will be the South-East Asia region, emphasized the Sri Lankan Prime Minister and pointed out that all countries in the region should take steps to ensure free sea transportation and peace.

     

    Premier further said that Sri Lanka pledges with responsibility to protect the peace and protection in the region. He said that Sri Lanka will never give any of its harbors for activities of foreign Armed forces and Sri Lanka Navy is the sole authority, who has the responsibility to protect the harbors of Sri Lanka.

     

    Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickreme in his remarks pointed out that a friendly atmosphere for investors is being created in Sri Lanka and while laws are being created to felicitate the one-stop shop concept.
