    President meets O/L top rankers

    Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday met the students who received the highest marks at the GCE O/L examination at Temple Trees..

    President Rajapaksa congratulated the following top rankers and handed over Scholarships for further studies, laptop computers and dictionaries sponsored by the People's Bank  to all 15 students, at the function.

     

    Menushika Jayani Kariyawasam of Gampaha Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya has reached the top place while Thapoda Harindi Gangodawila of Colombo Vishaka Vidyalaya reached the second place.

     

    The third place has been secured by Ravin Lasindu Tennakoon and the fourth places by Kalindu Chethika Wickramasinghe of Royal College, Dilini Indunil Fonseka of Vishaka Vidyalaya and Roshana Tharindi of Galle Southland College.  Dulanjana Mihikirani Amaya Dharmasiri of Kurunegala Maliyadeva Balika Vidyala has reached the island's fifth place.

     

    Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena, President's Chief of Staff and People's Bank Chairman Gamini Senarath, Education Ministry Secretary Anura Dissanayake, Commissioner General of Examinations N.J.Pushpakumara, parents, teachers and principals of the respective schools were also present at the occasion.
