    New lottery was introduced for the benefit of children Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena donated funds for 69 families with twins, triplets and quintuplets at the President’s House, yesterday (14). Donations of Rs 1mn, Rs 2mn and Rs 2.5mn were distributed among those families for the future welfare of these children.A programme was implemented under the directions of the President by the President’s Office to provide financial assistance for the families faced financial difficulties in raising children.

    Meanwhile, the President marking the Universal Children’s Day 2019 established a new trust fund for children who are in need of help due to various reasons and a new lottery named ‘ Diri Daru Sampatha’ was introduced during this ceremony to raise funds for this project.The first ticket that was introduced by the National Lottery Board was sold to the President.

    The President also donated essential equipment to 12 hospitals in remote areas under the President’s Fund.In parallel to these national programmes, a programme titled “Janadipathi Seva Prasadani” was also held at the President’s House today, to express the gratitude to the President by the staff of the President’s Office.Secretary to the President Udaya R. Senevirathne, presented a felicitation award to the President in appreciation of the great service rendered by President towards the country and its citizens during the last five years, including the launch of successful projects for the welfare of the public. This was done by Mr. Seneviratne.

    First Lady Jayanthi Sirisena, Governor of the North Central Province, Sarath Ekanayake and staff of the President’s Office participated on this occasion.
