    A Service Constitution would be created to streamline Police Service - President

    Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa said a service constitution would be created to streamline Sri Lanka's Police service which states that the Police Dept. would not be devalued.

    He said that the Police Dept. has been strengthened with new technology and methodology as they have to cope up with different types of crimes.

     

    Addressing a meeting of more than 5000 police and Special Task Force officers representing areas island-wide at Temple Trees Saturday (Nov.01), the President said that training should be provided to all sectors in the Police Service to be knowledgeable than the present day criminals.

     

    The meeting was organized under the theme "The Progress of Sri Lanka Police during last 10 years".

     

    The President was presented with a memento in recognition of his dedication and guidance for the establishment of a people friendly, professional and dignified police service.

     

    Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary to the Law and Order Ministry Mahinda Balasuriya, IGP N.K. Ilangakoon and a group of officials were present at the meeting.
