The President made this pledge when he met Chief Minister of Northern Province C.V. Vigneshwaran and a group of representatives from the fishing organizations in the North at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

The President was enlightened by them on many issues pertaining to the fisher folk in the North. The issues of Indian Fishermen's involvement in fisheries activities in Sri Lanka's sea periphery too was discussed.

Joseph Michael Perera, Minister of Home Affairs and Fisheries, Ruwan Wijewardena, State Minister of Defence, H.M.P.B.Palihakara, Governor of the Northern Province, C.V.Vigneswaran, Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council were also present at this discussion.
