    President pledges to take measures to eradicate Kidney Disease

    Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena emphasized that  all possible measures will be taken by his government to save the entire society from the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) that has become a challenge not only to the North-central Province but also to the entire country. 

    The President speaking at  an event held at Padaviya Mahasen College on Monday evening under the theme ‘Prevention of Causes for Kidney Disease’", said the present government has identified the causes of the disease and will take measures to eradicate the disease.
     
     
    He further said that a clear decision will be taken to accept only standard pesticides and agro-chemicals that are best for the country as a measure to prevent the disease among the farmers. The President also stressed that the government will not bow down to the demands of multi national organizations. Speaking further he pointed out on the importance of using carbonic fertilizer.
     
     
    The President  noted that the general public received fewer benefits from the massive development projects that were implemented by the previous government.  He pointed out that under the new government's development drive priority will be given to short and mid-term development projects that eradicate poverty of rural community.  
     
     
    The President thereafter laid the foundation stone for the Kidney Disease Preventive and Cure Unit at the Padaviya Hospital, parallel to this event.
     
     
    The President also handed over ambulances, blood leak detector devices and chemical equipment for the North Central Province hospitals.
     
     

    Ministers Rajitha Senarathen, P. Harrison, Tissa Karaliyadda, M.P, Secretary to the Ministry of Health  D.M.R.B. Dissanayake, and other senior officials were present.
