He says "World Health Organization proclaims that, unsafe food is linked to the deaths of two million people annually. It has caused uncountable side effects against a healthier life.Identifying the timely need of the matter, World Health Organization has announced, "From farm to plate make food safe" as its theme for the year 2015.

"It is victory of the present Government to work towards the food safety of Sri Lankans, by establishing a separate Ministry for the purpose, first time in the history of Sri Lanka, in the very particular year where food safety is being considered by the world.

"I would like to convey my good wishes to World Health Organization and wishing you all, the entire Sri Lankan community will able to ensure the nutrition and hygiene of your food from farm to plate! "
