Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today leader of the Sri Lanka Communist Party (CP) parliamentarian DEW Gunasekera said his party opposed to the 1978 constitution right from the beginning. He commended the 19th constitutional amendment as it removes excessive powers of the Executive Presidency.

The General Secretary of Lanka Samasamaja Party (LSSP) Parliamentarian Prof. Tissa Vitharana also said that his party  was against the Executive Presidency right from the beginning. General Secretary of Scialist People's Front Raja Kollure also addressed the briefing.
