    President opens Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone Featured

    Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa Thursday evening opened the annual Buddha Rashmi National Vesak Zone 2014 at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo with the participation of the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe

    The Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone a religious and cultural festival is a concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.  

     

    The annual event to celebrate the most important Buddhist event is organized jointly by the President's Office and Gangaramaya Temple.

     

    After conducting religious observances at the Seemamalakaya. President Mahinda Rajapaksa officially inaugurated the Buddha Rashmi Vesak zone by switching on the lights at the Gangarama premises. The Buddha Rashmi Vesak zone is centred around the Presidential Secretariat and the Hunupitiya Gangarama temple. The zone is complete with pandols, lanterns and other decorations. The Chief Incumbent of the Gangarama temple Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thera. made the anusasana.

     

    Government ministers and parliamentarians, religious leaders and a large crowd also participated in the event.
