He said that he will present to Parliament a broad national policy that will address the national issues for the betterment of the country after the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) government secures President Maithripala Sirisena's approval.

He said the new program will be prepared to resolve the problems of the country with broad consensus of all parties represented in the parliament and extended an invitation to all parties to take part in the program.

He said the mandate given by the people on the 8th of January has been re-endorsed through the general election as well.

A parliamentary committee system is to be implemented in addition to the provision of ministerial portfolios. An advisory council will also be appointed to advice the government and services of civil organizations will be utilized in this regard.

The Prime Minister further said that the opinions and suggestions of civil organizations as well as the religious leaders will be sought for the preparation of the national policy and the parliamentary approval will be sought for its implementation.

The PM said immediate discussions will be commenced with the President and all other political parties on the national policy.
