    'Kapuge Memorial Concert' under President's patronage Featured

    A musical programme titled “Kapugeta Heththewai” (Kapuge is seventy) to commemorate the legendry artist Gunadasa Kapuge was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the BMICH on Friday (11).

    The memorial concert was organized by the Gunadasa Kapuge Commemoration Committee and son of late Kapuge sang songs of him at the musical concert.

     

    Expressing his views at the Concert the President has said that no one can ever forget humanists like Kapuge and such artists are needed for this era. The President further said that he wanted to create a just society in the country.

     

    He also pointed out that Gunadasa Kapuge’s contribution to the country’s art and culture was commendable and he lives in the hearts of the people forever.

     

    A book titled “Soduru Adaharaya” was presented to the President Sirisena by Mrs. Prema Kapuge at the event.

     

    Maha Sangha including ven. Rambukkana Siddhartha Thero, Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon, Ministers Rajitha Senaratne, Duminda Dissanayake, Prof. Carlo Fonseka, Prof. Sunil Ariyarathna and many other distinguished guests were present at the event.
