The President inquired about all the arrangements are in place to hold the annual perehara of Somawathi Rajamaha Viharaya. The Perahera will commence on September 27.

President Sirisena also inquired about the progress of the construction work of the parapet wall surrounding thе Somawathi Stupa. The President further said that the parapet wall should build while preserving the old heritage and the environment, adding that the relevant officials must have a good knowledge on different impacts can occur when undertaking the construction works.

Commencement of the project without a feasibility report is not wise and the estimated amount of 700 million rupees could not spend in an irresponsible manner, the Prersident added.
