The decision has been arrived at on a request made by State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Chiarman Hambantota District Development Committee Dileep Wedaarachchi. to the President, Prime Minister and the Minister of Buddha Sasana.
The preliminary discussion in this regard was held at the ancient Naigala Rajamaha Viharaya in Hambantota yesterday by State Minister Dileep Wedaarachchi.
This will be the first Vesak Festival to be held in the Hambantota district.
The chief incumbent of the Viharaya Ven, Muruthuwala Kassapaa Thero, several Nayaka Theras of the District, the prelates of the district, Seccretaries to the Ministries of Housing and Budda Sasana, Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs, Hambantota District Secretary and several government officials participated at the discussions.
