    Talent Identification Program to select best sportspersons Featured

    A Talent Identification Program to be implemented this year to select the best sportspersons from island wide schools.

     


    According to the Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekara, the selected sportspersons will be included in the reserves and will trained to enhance their skills with the intention to participate the Asian, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. The Cabinet paper for approval will be presented soon.

     

     

    The shortage of 5100 sports teachers in 10,000 rural schools will also be fulfilled by recruiting new teachers with a training for physical fitness.

     

     

    Minister made these remarks yesterday (17) in Colombo participating to the event to felicitate the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) 2016 Sri Lankan Swimming Champions.

     

     

    The event was organized by the Swim America Swimming Club, Ceylonese Rugby and Football Club (CR& FC) and the Killer Whale Aquatics Swimming Club.

     

     

    Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Karunarathne Paranawithana, MP Harshana Rajakaruna, Secretary of the National Olympic Committee Maxwell De Silva, Mathew Abeysinghe who clinched 7 gold medals with new SAG records and other seven swimmers who clinched medals at SAG 2016 also participated the occasion.
