    Army builds a 'Vesak' Pandal in New Delhi

    With the view of promoting the existing spiritual and cultural bond between Sri Lanka and India, Sri Lanka Army's Corps of Engineer Services (CES) built and displayed the first ever 'Vesak' Pandal in New Delhi on 15th May states the army media.

    Following an initiative of Ms. Chitranganee Wagiswara, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in India, 'Vesak' Pandal in New Delhi was built to commemorate the Birth, Enlightenment and Parrinibbana of the Buddha. 200 Vesak lanterns were also displayed at the venue to add colour to the occasion.

    Army team, comprising of one Officer and 15 Other Rankers of the CES flew to India on 2 May for the construction process. Sri Lanka Navy ferried the required materials and equipment to India.

    The 40 feet height Vesak Pandal is depicting the 'Angulimala' Jathaka story with Hindi language.
