Swimming
Matthew Abeysinghe won the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and recorded a national record in the Individual Medley 200m events grabbing gold medals in all three events. Akalanka Pieris won the bronze in the 100 freestyle and 50m butterfly events. Sandu Savindi took the bronze medal in the Women`s 50m Butterfly event. The Sri Lankan Men`s Relay team was disqualified from the 4x100 Medley Relay for an early start. The women`s relay team won the silver medal in the 4x100 Medley Relay.
Cricket
Bangladesh clinched the gold medal defeating Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the men’s T20 cricket final played at Kirtipur yesterday.Sri Lanka had dominated the Bangladesh bowling attack on Monday in the final group fixture, handing them their first loss in the tournament with a nine-wicket win but Bangladesh turned tables in the final to win the gold. Having won the toss, skipper Soumya sent Sri Lanka into bat and but this time the Lankans did not find runs so easily and made only 122 with Pathum Nissanka (22) and Shammu Ashan (25) making the runs. Hassan Mohamed picked up three wickets and Tanvir Islam two. Saif Haasan (33) and Hossain Shanto (35) made useful contributions in Bangladesh’s run chase.
Boxing
The three bronze medals won in boxing were in the Women’s Bantamweight (51-54kg) - Sajeewani. Cooray and Light Flyweight (45-48kg) - Nadeeka Pushpakumari and men’s 64 kg by Dinidu Sapramadu.
3x3 Basketball
Sri Lanka Women`s Basketball team took the silver medal and Sri Lanka’s 3x3 Men`s team won the bronze medal.
Shooting
Suranga Fernando and Amali Kulatunga took the silver in the 10m Air Pistol.
Wrestling
Maduwanthi Rupasinghe (68KG) won the silver in the women’s category and Lakmal Wijesooriya (74kg) also a silver in the men’s.
Archery
Anuradha Karunaratne won a silver in the Individual Compound and Thakshila Damayanthi a bronze also in the Individual Compound.
