The Sports activities in Northern Province will promote understanding & contacts among the youth of different ethnic and religious communities thus reducing and eventually eliminating room for tension & conflict.

It will also help to upgrade sports facilities in Northern Province and also demonstrate the commitment of the government and the people to take tangible steps towards reconciliation and harmony.

It is further proposed that 08 sports events of the National Sports Festival are to be held in JatIna Sports Complex. The Sports Hokey, Gymnastic & Beach Volleyball events will be held in other venues outside of Jaffna & Kilinochchi.
