In 2015 fish production was 520,190 metric tons. Most of it is exported as value added products. 32.7 percent is exported to countries in the European Union while the balance is exported to Japan, Russia, Israel, USA, Middle east countries as well as to countries in the Asian region. The export income the country gets from exporting of fish is USD 250 million.

Wet fish, Tuna fish, sea prawns, crabs, cuttlefish, processed fish, processed crabs, tinned and canned fish as well as dry fish is exported. There are 35 fish processing centers in the country but only 26 processing centers have the permission to export to the European Union.
