Doctor Sarahi Mendoza, an investigator from the Natural Products Center belonging to the National Scientific Investigation Center of Cuba (CENIC), has told to Prensa Latina that the product, baptized with the name of PALMEX, is a very effective medication to treat prostate benigne hyperplasia, in a dialogue with the press at one of the stands at the 32nd Havana International Fair (FIHAV).

"This is a disease affecting a lot of men over 50.  It is associated to an important amount of symptoms in the lower urinary tract, which are very annoying.  For example, we can mention the increase of liquid, pain, difficulties or urgency to urinate, something that brings about the increase of size in the prostate," said Dr. Mendoza.

There made several clinical trials on the product of Phases I and II, while one is currently on Phase III, which after completing the experimental part, is in the data processing and preparation of the report, with encouraging results, said Dr. Mendoza.

About four thousand businessmen from more than 60 countries and numerous government officials, chambers of commerce and other related institutions, are attending the Havana International Fair, the most important commercial event in Cuba, in its 32nd edition.

Ranked as the highest in the last 12 years in Cuba, that commercial and exhibition forum will Friday will have its awards ceremony at the Havana Convention Palace.

Event organizers will give recognition to the most represented country, the best stand and design, the highest quality products and the most visited pavilion, as usual in this event, considered among the most representative of its kind to be held in Latin America. (KH)
