Snow Accumulations Exceed 3 Meters in Japan

    February 11, 2015

Tokyo:  Masses of cold air have generated big accumulations of snow above the three-meter high in cities like Uonuma, Niigata prefecture, Japan's Meteorological Agency reports said.

The strong snow storms will continue over the next days and affect regions near the Sea of Japan, including Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kokuriku and Kansai, the source added.

So far no victims or material damages have been reported as consequence of the poor weather conditions in Japan.

Last December, snow storms affecting northern and central Japan left a toll of ten people dead and more than hundred domestic and nationals flights grounded, as well as power cuts in thousands of home.
