UNP's inability to find a candidate is a sad situation

It is very sad to note that the UNP was unable to find a candidate to the Presidential Election. If a party which was established by late D.S.Senanayake cannot find a presidential candidate how can they rule the country? Prime Minister D.M.Jayarathna questioned when the House took up the Expenditure Heads under the Finance and Planning Ministry for debate at the Committee Stage of Budget 2015.

I thank the President for presenting a unique budget aiming at everyone The Opposition has always criticized any good move by the government. They have not spoken about the proposals included in the budget for the people, the PM said.

Bridges and roads have been constructed. Although constructive criticisms should be made by an opposition to lead a government on the correct path, the opposition has not done this. They never made a suggestion or gave an instruction. They only criticize us. The Opposition demands to abolish the Executive Presidency. As it was there, we could end terrorism and develop the nation. Is there any leader other than President Mahinda Rajapaksa to rule the nation? The Common Leader in Sri Lanka is President Rajapaksa.

Why does Maithripala Sirisena promise to abolish Executive Presidency and grant the post of Executive Prime Minister to Ranil Wickremesinghe? It is because Maithri cannot rule the country, Prime Minister D.M.Jayarathna further added. (KH)
