He clarified that only certain cupboards containing the documents relevant to the investigation into the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda were sealed on the orders of the Army Commander. He added that cupboards containing the relevant documents were sealed for security reasons.
Ekneligoda, a journalist for the news website LankaeNews, was abducted on 24th January 2010 and taken to the Giritale Army Camp where he was believed to have been kept captive and later killed.
Following the investigations conducted into the case, the CID has arrested 11 army personnel, both currently serving and retired, over the journalist's disappearance.
