Currently as there are no accurate data on day care centers and we are gathering that data and are planning to draft legislation for the regulation and monitoring of daycare centers, the Chairperson of the NCPA Natasha Balendran said.
She further said that Rs.50 million has been allocated in the 2016 budget for NCPA to develop together with the Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority a training programme for child care workers.
"We intend to develop a curriculum for day care workers, workers in children’s homes, possibly preschools teachers, and other child care givers. This will eventually be a diploma level course but this year will be limited to a certificate level", she said.
These would be few of the plans to be implemented in year 2016 by the NCPA for the protection of the children, she added.
