CAA Chairman Hasitha Tillekeratne said the inaugural programme will be themed 'Towards the Consumer,' in order to commemorate World Consumer Rights Day, which falls on March 15.
This is the first time Sri Lanka has initiated a programme of this nature. The Chairman said a large number of large, medium and small scale traders, vendors and companies have joined with the programme to provide benefits and other privileges to consumers who purchase goods and services from them during the week.
Lankasathosa has already agreed to provide discounts on 125 items and Nalaka Exercise Book Private Ltd. has agreed to provide a 45 percent discounts on exercise books.
Meanwhile, several private hospitals, super markets and banks have also pledged to join with the programme.
Banners will be provided to the large scale traders and companies, while stickers will be given to the medium and small scale traders and vendors who will be participating in this programme, for easy identification.
