    May 06, 2016

State Minister of Finance Lakshman Yapa Abeywardhena yesterday (5th May) submitted a letter to the President Maithripala Sirisena requesting stern financial policy on MPs and ministry staffs in using public money.

He suggested MPs to travel in business class for the official visits instead of first class, issuing only economy class air tickets for the officials, stay in law-priced hotel rooms, minimizing the number of participants for the foreign visits and deploying the officers from the Embassy in relevant country, forming a method to permit only for essential foreign visits to the Secretaries and the other officials, forming a process to inform the Secretaries and the other officials on Financial Management and monitoring.
