According to Dr. A M S Bandara, there were only two machines in the dialysis unit in Mahiyanganaya Base when it was started in 2011 and today the hospital has 10 machines.

In Mahiyanganaya Base Hospital, there are 59 patients who need dialysis. Most of them are arriving from far away places as Monaragala and Polonnaruwa. “This hospital is central and now we are in a position to care for them. The only draw back is lack of efficient staff. However, now we are in a better position to serve these patients who travel from faraway places”, he said.
