    No direct effect from KYANT – Met. Department

    There is no direct effect on Sri Lanka from the cyclonic storm ‘KYANT’active in the Central Bay of Bengal as it has now located about 1000 km away from North-East Sri Lanka, Met. Department said.

    Except in the Northern Province, showers or thundershowers would occur at several places in the island after 2.00 p.m.

     

    According to them, showers may occur in Western province and in Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts in the morning too.

     

    Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces during the morning, they said.

     

    Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are expected and public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
