The installation of RO Plants was carried out on par with the World Kidney Day celebrations held in Wilgamuwa Matale on the directives of President Maithripala Sirisena. The Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease made financial allocation for 10 RO Plants while ISN Gardiner Kidney Disease Prevention Fund of Galle Face Hotel bore the cost of 3 RO Plants.
Accordingly, with the assistance of Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease Sri Lanka Navy installed RO plants at Namini Oya Central College, Maraka Maha Vidyalaya, Nugagolla Maha Vidyalaya, Mahawathenna Primary School, Radunneweva Primary School, Sonuththara Junior School, Malgammana Primary School, Bogahweva Junior School, Dharmapala Primary School and Wilgamuwa Primary School. This will benefit 3,622 school children and 6,006 villagers of the region.
ISN Gardiner Kidney Disease Prevention Fund sponsored RO plants were installed at the Villages of Perakanaththa, Gemburuoya, and Lediyangala benefitting over 546 villagers living in the area.
With these installations, the Sri Lanka Navy has donated 153 RO facilities across the country to date, facilitating over 73,200 families and 56,700 school children with safe drinking water provided free of charge.
