Those investments include the building of new hospitals, developing the remaining hospitals, manufacturing of medicine, and surgical equipment.
According to the minister, a Malaysian company has agreed to provide all the equipment needed for the health service on concessionary terms with a grace period of 20 years. It will help to receive the high quality equipment for the development of the health sector, the minister said.
In addition, a Chinese medical equipment manufacturing company also has held discussions with the Health Minister yesterday (14th March) to open a factory in Sri Lanka. They have also promised to educate the Sri Lankan Health sector employees regarding the use of the surgical equipment.
