Fairly strong winds (up to 40 kmph) can be expected at times over the northern half of the island today (22nd April).
Mainly fair weather will prevail over most parts of the island.
However, several spells of light showers can be expected in the coastal areas extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar and Matara to Batticaloa via Hambantota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60 kmph.
