Few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Potuvil to Trincomalee via Batticaloa.Winds will be westerly to South-westerly and speed will be 20-35 kmph in the sea area extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle.Winds will be North-easterly or variable over other sea areas around the island and wind speed will be 10-20 kmph.

The Cyclonic storm ‘GAJA’ over the South Indian land, weakened into a deep depression and moved westwards away from the Sri Lanka. Hence windy and showery condition in the Northern sea area is expected to reduce gradually from today(16) midnight.Showers or thundershowers will occur Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central, Western and Uva provinces after 2.00p.m.Light showers can be expected in the Eastern and Northern provinces in the morning.Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm may occur at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces.Misty conditions may occur at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces during the morning.There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
