    Army Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Put Unserviceable Vehicles Back on Track

    Sri Lanka Army’s Directorate of Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (DEME) with the full engagement of the technical assistance of the Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment troops, succeeded in repairing a fleet of 27 vehicles and 7 motorbikes, set aside as unserviceable within a period of three months.

    Under the guidance and the close supervision of Brigadier P.S.R.L Rajakaruna, Director, Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, unserviceable 15 tractors, 5 heavy vehicles, 7 light vehicles and 7 motorbikes that remained at the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) were repaired under this speedy programme as a prioritized project within the Headquarters premises.

     

    5 SLEME Commanding Officer undertaking the challenge for repairs to these vehicles attended to the task in an impressive manner and put those vehicles back on road within a span of three months following the support of the DEME.

     

    Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W, together with Brigadier P.S.R.L Rajakaruna inspected the repaired vehicles before they were formally received from the Director EME during a simple ceremony, attended by the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) - Wanni at the Saliyapura 5 SLEME camp on Tuesday (22).

     

    All officers and other ranks at the 5 SLEME Headquarters assisted the completion of the project with commitment and dedication and their efforts were appreciated by Major General Boniface Perera during the brief ceremony.
