     Health Ministry prepared 24 hospitals to care for Corona patients

    The Health Ministry has readied 24 hospitals covering the entire island to treat patients in their respective districts, said Health and Indigenous Medicine Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

    Addressing a media briefing held at the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of Covid-19 yesterday, she said that all medical staff and facilities have been provided to these hospitals.

    These hospitals are the Colombo National Hospital, Kandy General Hospital, Children’s Hospital, IDH, Ragama Rehabilitation Hospital, North Colombo Hospital, Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, Ratnapura Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Badulla General Hospital, Hambantota District General Hospital, Negombo District Hospital, Gampaha District Hospital, Chilaw Base Hospital, Polonnaruwa District Hospital, Monaragala District General Hospital, Kalutara District General Hospital, Matara District General Hospital, Marawila Base Hospital, Kegalle District General Hospital and the Vavuniya District General Hospital have been allocated to treat corona patients.

    The Minister also noted that the government has declared holidays not to engage in tours but to stay home safely and not get infected. Hence, she urged the public to assist the government in their efforts to control the spread of the Coronavirus and cooperate with the authorities.
