    Grade Five Scholarship exam today- All arrangements made to conduct Scholarship Examination Safety

    The Grade Five Scholarship examination will begin today (11) with full focus on the safety of children in the face of the prevailing Covid situation in the country.

     

    The examination will be held at 2,936 examination centres island-wide while 331,694 students expected to sit for the examination. Accordingly, 248,072 students will face the examination in the Sinhala stream while 83,622 students will sit for the exam in the Tamil stream.

     

    The Secretary of Education also commended the support extended to the Ministry of Education by the health authorities, the Sri Lanka Police, the Transport Authority and all social groups, during the examination period.

    At this year’s scholarship examination arrangements have been made to accommodate 160 students per centre due to the Covid situation and arrangements have been made to set up special examination centers within the Gampaha District where quarantine curfew is currently in force.
    Accordingly, students who were scheduled to sit the examination at centres in other districts, could sit for the examination at these special centres set up within their own police divisions for their safety, said Examinations Commissioner General B. Sanath Pujitha.

    Details of these special centres for both the year five scholarship examination and the A/L examination have been attached herewith.

    Explaining the transport measures put in place for the convenience and safety of the students sitting for these examinations, Railways General Manager A.B.G. Seneviratne said that special train compartments have been allocated for students and their parents or guardians accompanying the students to travel in areas where quarantine curfew has been imposed.
    In addition, in these police divisions special bus services have been deployed for the transportation of these students and their parents/guardians.

     

    All examination centres have been disinfected and students, students and staff members have been advised to wear face masks conforming to safety regulations.

    The Education Secretary further requested that under the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation, it is the responsibility of everyone in society to ensure that the mental peace of these children sitting the examination is not disturbed enabling them to sit the examination without stress.
