      Infrastructure development in tourist attraction areas commences

    A new bridge to be constructed for the Gampaha Botanical Gardens at a cost of Rs. 67 million..

    Infrastructure development in tourist areas commences; the Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga said that the necessary allocations will be made for the construction of roads, bridges, information centers and sanitary facilities.

    The Minister stated that this project is planned to be implemented in major tourist attraction areas across the country as well as in the areas identified as new tourist attractions and the development work is scheduled to start this year.

    The Tourism Minister emphasized the above while addressing the ceremonial inauguration of the construction work of the new bridge at the Henarathgoda Botanical Garden, Gampaha on March 12.

    This bridge will be constructed across the Attanagalu Oya to reach the Garden from the Gampaha - Ja-Ela main road and the new 30 meter long bridge is expected to be completed in 210 days. A sum of Rs. 45 million has been allocated for this purpose by the State Ministry of Provincial Councils & Local Government Affairs.

    Minister Ranatunga reiterated that Gampaha Botanical Gardens will be developed as a local and foreign tourist attraction and steps will be taken to improve the infrastructure facilities required for locals and foreigners who are visiting the Botanical Gardens.
